Maritime Star
By Nils Ling and Alan Rankin
“Follow that star, that Maritime Star, straight to the Harbourfront
Jubilee Theatre in Summerside where one will find what is undoubtedly one
of the best theatrical productions gracing any stage on the Island this summer.
The production is made complete with a cast that is nothing short of amazing.
Leisa Way, who is no stranger to the stage, having played
Anne in the Confederation Centre production for numerous years, wowed the
audience with her powerful voice.
She brings new life and emotion to the songs of the production, which were
composed by one of the Maritime’s best songwriters, Alan Rankin.
Ballads such as Make a Home/You Are My Love that Way and
(Todd) Noel perform, stir the emotions, often causing the tears to flow, and
the title song will stir a tear in even the most cynic at heart.
- Nancy MacPhee, CBC Prince Edward Island
“The cast is stellar. Leisa Way who is
no stranger to the Island audiences, is wonderful in the lead role. She
has an energy that befits Carly and a voice that brings out all the emotion
songwriter Allan Rankin could hope for in his lyrics.”
- Mike Carson, Charlottetown, Guardian Weekend
